I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography and Environment and Director of the Environment and Development Programme at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
At the LSE, I co-organize the Social Life of Climate Change initiative and I am a Research Associate at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment.
My work draws on and contributes to the study of political ecology and the human geography of development and agrarian change.
My research is focused on the ways in which development interventions and knowledge systems shape communities and landscapes. The majority of my research and writing are focused in South Asia, particularly Bangladesh.
My first book, Threatening Dystopias: The Global Politics of Climate Change Adaptation in Bangladesh, was recently published by Cornell University Press. More here.
